Actor and Stuntman Demo Reels

Choose your Script.
Choose your Date.

Do you not have enough footage to create a full reel, or is your current reel drastically in need of being updated with something high-end and professionally shot?

I offer you the option of shooting a professionally recorded monologue or complete scene.

Not having professionally done headshots is a recipe for disaster if you're an actor. Headshots should be the first thing you do, well before a reel. So if you haven't yet, I recommend getting those first. When not editing reels, I also work as a headshot photographer.

STEP 1: THE CONSULTATION

This is where the creative juices get flowing and we start envisioning your scene(s) together. We'll talk about the character and genre you see yourself playing and we'll also look at the calendar and decide a shoot date that is right for you. You know best how much time you need to prepare.

STEP 2: SCRIPT SELECTION / LOCATION SELECTION / DATE SELECTION

Choose your Scene and Monologue. It’s important you connect with the scripts and resonate with them.

STEP 3: PRE-PRODUCTION & LOCATION SELECTION

Then use our LOCATION GUIDE to select locations or provide your own.

STEP 4: THE SHOOT

The Crew and your Scene Partner(s) will arrive at their given call times on location. You should always arrive Hair & Makeup ready. Be sure to consider travel time to the shoot location.

STEP 5: THE CHOOSING

As soon as we’re done filming you, we start the Post-Production process. We will have a rough-cut ready for you to look at and choose your performance takes. The rough-cut is all your takes before color correction, cleaned sound and music. You will use the TIMECODE to make your selections and CONFIRM your takes.

STEP 6: EDITING / AUDIO / COLOR MASTERING

After you CONFIRM your decisions on your favorite takes, we'll perform the editing, and move right into the Mastering phase. Including: Sound/dialogue cleaning, color correction, and music (when appropriate). This is where your scenes pick up that ultra professional polish.

STEP 7: DELIVERY

The Final Scenes will now be delivered digitally for download in High Definition (HD) & Standard Definition (SD). After I send it to you, you'll have the opportunity to send me back a message with any changes you still need. One extra pass is included, but additional passes on the reel are $75 each.
Reel Update - $65

Integrate new footage into your pre-existing reel.
This is not a complete re-edit of the entire reel (otherwise it will be considered a new reel at full price). After I send it to you, you'll have the opportunity to send me back a message with any changes you still need. One extra pass is included, but additional passes on the reel are $50 each. It usually takes me about a week or less to edit everything after you've sent me the links.
Demo Reel Edit Only - $199

This takes place entirely online. You'll just need to send me your footage, any edit notes, and I'll take care of the rest.
You don't have to come in to the studio, as everything will be sent online. This is the most convenient way for you to have your reel edited. Includes:
  • Video (monologue, scene, or song) up to 5 minutes. ($65 dollars for every minute over.)
After I send it to you, you'll have the opportunity to send me back a message with any changes you still need. One extra pass is included, but additional passes on the reel are $50 each. It usually takes me about a week or less to edit everything after you've sent me the links.

WHY HAVE A REEL?

You’re an actor and you finally have copies of your work. You may have worked on short films, a comedy sketch, or a commercial for a local business. That means you’re officially ready to create a professional reel, which will directly increase your chances of being hired for the types of roles that you want.

It’s an essential piece of your marketing tools, and one you must take very seriously. Nothing is worse than an agent asking for your demo reel, and you saying, “Uh, I don’t really have one.” Consider that a missed opportunity.

Having a reel will instantly put you ahead of 80% of actors out there. Studies show that 80% of actors do not have a reel, which means you'll be taken much more seriously when going into auditions.

Most casting directors refuse to respond to actors without a reel because they assume they are unprofessional or have no experience. Because of this, you'll only have a 10% chance of getting called into an audition without one.

Casting directors consider your reel to be your most important marketing tool. Without one they are unable to judge how you look on camera and whether you'll be worth their time to come in for an audition.

WHY NOT DO IT MYSELF?

Compiling it yourself with your computer’s pre-loaded editing software is an option. However, first you have the task of trying to figure out how to use the program, not to mention weeding through your clips to decide what works best and then strategically organizing them to show your talent to its best advantage. How long should a reel be? How do you order your clips? Are you sure that is your best performance? Even though you might be intent on using every single film you’ve been a part of, a good editor will prove that quality is much more effective than quantity.

After you soon realize that this is all a lot more involved than just “cutting and pasting,” you come to the smart decision to hire a professional editor. Actors hire a professional photographer for their headshots, rather than posing in their living room for their friend’s new point-and-shoot camera. Why wouldn’t the same importance be placed on hiring an editor?

WHAT MAKES A GREAT REEL?

Creating emotion in others makes you memorable and more likely to be hired. A short, concise reel that highlights the emotional journey your characters go through is the final goal. As a filmmaker who's been involved with the casting process many times, nothing bothers me more than when an actor sends me a reel that's too long. No matter who you are, even if your reel is entertaining, it should be short enough that someone can watch it quickly, yet long enough to get a sense of your unique style and character range. Being a producer/director myself, I have been on the other side of the casting process. During the casting process, a director or casting director will receive hundreds of demo reels, so they usually do not have time to watch through a 10 minute video and may put them off until the end or never watch them at all. If they wish the reel was longer, that means you'll get a call. Leave them wanting more. Most casting directors won't watch more than 10 to 15 seconds of a reel if it's not good, so you want to be sure that they see your best scene right away so they'll stay to watch the rest.

WHAT FOOTAGE IS APPROPRIATE FOR MY DEMO REEL

At the end of the day, it’s about how you present yourself. Would you show up to a job interview in ripped jeans, with typos on your résumé? It’s the same with demo reels. Do you want to be showing someone a reel with blurry videos and bad sound? It says that you don’t take yourself and your career seriously. This is a business, after all. First impressions matter. Every way you present yourself, from your looks to your materials to your talent, should be of the highest caliber if you want to break in to this business and compete at the highest level. That includes your demo reel. When looking at all of your footage, you have to put yourself in the shoes of the casting director and ask yourself, “What would make me want to hire this person?"
